Lawson will discuss some of the problematic aspects of liberal theory that work against a viable environmental ethic policy for urban areas.

Lawson is a professor of philosophy at Michigan State University. His research and teaching interests include African-American philosophy and social and political philosophy. His published books include The UnderClass Question, Between Slavery and Freedom, and Frederick Douglass: A Critical Reader.
