Curriculum Vitae



David M. Kaplan received his PhD in philosophy from Fordham University in 1998. Before joining the faculty at the University of North Texas in 2005, he taught as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities at Polytechnic University in Brooklyn. He has three main areas of research: 1) Paul Ricoeur and the social-political dimensions of hermeneutics; 2) the Philosophy of Technology and the relationship between technological knowledge and practice and traditional philosophical concerns; 3) the Philosophy of Food and the social-political dimensions of technologically modified food, including genetically modified foods and functional foods (designed for specific health uses).
