- 1. Do I need an undergraduate major in philosophy in order to apply to the master's program?
No. You need neither a major or minor in philosophy. We accept applicants with backgrounds in any field, and in fact pride ourselves on having a rich interdisciplinary set of backgrounds in the department. - 2. Can I apply straight for the PhD program if I don't have my masters?
No. Students can apply for our PhD program only once they have a master's from UNT or another institution. - 3. What is the acceptance rate for applicants to the department?
It is currently at between 15 and 20%, though we should note that the number has been dropping.
