Ph.D. Requirements
How to Apply
The application process consists of two parts: application to UNT and application to the Philosophy program. Application for admission to the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies is made through the UNT graduate school. More information about that application process can be found here.
Upon admission, the student is also able to cross-register for graduate courses at our partner institution, the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), and to make use of the other academic resources available there. Students will enroll in courses at UTA as non-degree or special students. Enrollment in UTA courses is optional and contingent upon individual student interests. For online access to the Graduate School at UTA, go to: http://grad.uta.edu/. Application to UTA as a special student should not be sent until admitted to the UNT program.
NOTE: Applications to the Philosophy graduate programs will only be considered for Fall semesters. No new students will be admitted in Spring semesters. The deadline for application is January 1. GRE scores must be submitted with your application to the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies for the department to consider it.
The required documentation for application to UNT is sent directly to the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies, as detailed in the links above. The three letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, CV, and writing sample should be sent directly to the Philosophy Department at:
