Major/Minor in Philosophy

Major in Philosophy

The major requires completion of 30 hours in philosophy composed of a 21-hour core:

  • 2050 (Logic) or 3300 (Symbolic Logic)
  • 3310 (Ancient)
  • 3330 (Modern)
  • 3110 (Epistemology) or 4400 (Metaphysics)
  • 3250 (Philosophy of Natural Sciences) or 3260 (Philosophy of Social and Behavioral Science)
  • 3120 (Social & Political Philosophy), 3400 (Ethical Theory), or 4600 (Phenomenology)
  • 4970 Capstone Course
  • 3 Electives

Minor in Philosophy

A minor in philosophy consists of 18 semester credit hours including 6 advanced hours to be approved by the undergraduate advisor (dkaplan@unt.edu).
